CONFLICT - JAM - The purple dragonflY

The audio in this video comes from one of the jams my oldest son & I last recorded on 2/11/2007 when Nick came over out of the blue to play some guitar with me on my dusty Pots 'n' Pans soon after he returned from a second tour in Iraq.

The current drum set I have now is still the same ugly green 6-Piece Pearl Export Select - ELX that I ordered in the year 2000 & received in March of 2001 ~ I haven't put many miles on them as was the case with some previous kits. Isn't it odd how life can totally turn at the drop of a hat... As if there were an evil empire running the whole show & so long as you stick with the laid out program, your good, & you consider life to be going along normal even though unknowingly your a part of that same evil lurking. Getting too deep here...? Sorry.

Anyway... I'd been wanting to put this short piece with some video & had several ideas for doing it & this was one of those ideas...

Using a Ballroom Dance routine that featured a girl I used to work & dance with at the Arthur Murray's Dance Studio here in Albuquerque NM. Carrie & I had also danced a few exhibition shows together & it's easy to see why any guy who ever danced with Carrie would always receive MANY compliments from people during some special Dance function or while out dancing in some night club during those crazy disco years.

I know it's odd of me to try. Putting a well-disciplined Ballroom Dance routine to a noisy homemade rock jam that's un-disciplined & completely un-rehearsed is just plain wrong... So call me crazy.

Watching professional dancers weave in and out of themselves breaking a few laws of time & space just seemed to fit better to the crazy sounds of our raw Conflict jam. Yeah. I'm crazy!!!

I last saw Carrie in 1984 at the Arthur Murray's studio while there filming my last Local Bros video set with Doug & friends. Carrie moved to California & a short time after became a Ballroom Dance Champion.
Her Tango video footage comes from her last performance that aired sometime around 1994 on the PBS channel ~ Ballroom Championship Dancing.

It's Ironic that my oldest son & I would do a jam called "Conflict" together because I left the dance business when he was born. So for me the Video footage fits because as I recall it was a Conflict of dreams ~ Loving to dance but knowing I was suddenly facing a big responsibility.

And so I fell into the evil empire. So here we are. I could go on, but I won't.
