Ab.1.1 [[Anarchism Series, Cluster B (Elements of the Totality), Video: 'Illegitimate Authority and Mutual Influence']]

This series of videos on anarchism presents an introduction to a broad range of topics, in theory and action. The goal is to be systematic, but also experimental. Hopefully, discussion will ensue.

Cluster B consists of an exposition of the major anarchist oppositions, from Capitalism to Globalization, from Sexism to Private Property et cetera. Interdependently, these elements comprise 'the totality' that anarchist are seeking to end.

The first series of videos within Cluster B is an exploration of Authority and Hierarchy, the essence of the totality itself. Thus, having a critical understanding of authority and hierarchy is key to attacking the totality, as well as its elements. Capitalism, the state, private property etc are all various incarnations of authoritarian-hierarchy.

This specific video makes a crucial distinction between illegitimate authority and mutual influence. Despite the common statement made by anarchist ("opposition to all authority"), anarchists are in fact only opposed to one (albeit dominant) form of authority: hierarchical.

  • great explanation, thx.

  • My response is more honest ;)

  • You shoul make a video proving this point you made: "Capitalism doesn require anything that is involuntary ..." Anarchism is partially predicated on the idea that capitalism is inherintly dominational - i.e. it prevents freedom and equality. Show me how capitalism creates a system that is completely voluntary. These little comment-boxes aren't enough for genuine dialogue.

  • okay, the text, the video, or both?

  • I think you should make a video response then so you can educate me. Apparently I don't know wtf I'm talking about. ;-)

  • Your confusing the creation of wealth with he redistribution of wealth. Stop.

  • Im unaware of the capitalist paradise you are talking about. Mainly because it does not exist. To say that the 3rd world has a free market is ridiculous.

  • 5 starred and faved. Good job.

  • I love your videos. I hope you will continue to make them. You're accurate and your presentation is excellent.

  • I know this is directed towards Spawk1993. You just clicked [Reply] on my comment. So, it won't appear on his page. :D

    Are you celebrating something?
