'AVE MARIA' in Phoenician, August 15, 2010, Assumption day:

English translation:
Peace is upon you Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb our lord Jesus Christ. Lady Mary, the saint, mother of God, invoke the Lord for us, we the sinners, today and at the time of our death. Amen.

This is my Phoenician version of Ave Maria. I tried to use Phoenician vocabulary and expressions that are known to me and hence some of the minor deviations from the original text. Historically the Assumption feast was the National day of Lebanon before it was replaced later on by the Independence day. This feast is also the Patronal National catholic day of New Zealand.

What a friend and a heavenly mother we have in this great Lady; the Blessed Virgin, the daughter of Zion, the Theotokos.
Blessed be Mary most Holy, Mother of God. Blessed be the name of Mary virgin and mother. Blessed be her immaculate conception. Blessed be her glorious assumption.
Blessed be God in his Angels and in his Saints!
Happy Assumption day to you all!

  • A year has passed since I made this video! It is amazing how what is beautiful and sacred lasts forever. Over the past year I have prayed this "Nahet Aalaykhi Myriam"; "Ave Maria" in Phoenician in addition to several other languages. With my increasing knowledge of Phoenician I have changed the pronounciation of one word; one vowel, "barikha atti" instead of "barukha atti" otherwise all is good. Happy Assumption day 2011!
