Greene sees our biggest social problems — war, terrorism, the destruction of the environment, etc. — arising from our unwitting tendency to apply paleolithic moral thinking (also known as "common sense") to the complex problems of modern life. Our brains trick us into thinking that we have Moral Truth on our side when in fact we don't, and blind us to important truths that our brains were not designed to appreciate.

@CaleMecze how can you think these are the people that influence public policy? what country are you from? I think they should be the ones helping to shape policy, but the reality is that it is made based on a random collection of religious ideas (that come as a package deal) and economic theories that usually do not meet the scientific standard. and ofcourse the self-interest of special groups masked as collective interests. these guys could make an enormous improvement. and the only...

This fellow claims to be a moral sceptic , yet he's bigger utilitarian crackpot than Sam Harris.It's scary to think that people of his caliber are making recomendations for public policy.
