Recently I saw a cool youtube video of someone's photography portfolio completely done using the Rebel XS. I decided to make my own small portfolio.

Lenses Used Throughout:
28-80mm Tamrom (No Longer Own)
18-55mm IS Canon (Stock Lens)
100mm USM Canon (Macro)
55-250mm IS Canon (Zoom)
50mm Canon Prime Lens (Favorite)
(I also used some macro filters, +10.)

Even though it says the song in the credits I will repeat it:
Song - Nara
Artist - E.S. Posthumus

  • The pictures on 1:52 2:13 and 2:53 are amazing! What lenses did you use for these?

  • @0EmJay0 Thanks! For both 1:52 and 2:13 I used the standard kit lens (18-55mm), for 2:53 I used the Canon 100mm USM (Non-L) lens. The Canon 100mm is a macro lens that costs roughly 600 dollars, which is GREAT value for what you're getting.

  • Nice job! I have the rebel xs also and I love it to death.

I loved all of your photos!!

May I ask you what your favorite lenses are for landscape, macro, action, and portraiture? I'm trying to expand my lens collection and It's so hard for me to decide on which ones to get. (side-note: I'm a broke college kid. haha) :)

  • @McNChz Thanks!

Unfortunately I sold my XS and upgraded to a 60D, but I loved every second of my Rebel XS, it was such a little tank. It always pulled through, even in extremities like below freezing weather.

For landscape i simply like to use the kit lens. I fix the distortion in Photoshop.

Macro, I would say the 100mm USM (Non L Version)

For action and portraiture, I would recommend the 50mm f1.8. The wide aperture lets you shoot at faster speeds in lower light situations!

    Thanks again!

  • @dagrome Niiiice. I'll upgrade some day when I have the money haha. Thanks so much for the reply! :) I really appreciate it. I'll probably get the 50mm f1.8. next, seeing as it's pretty inexpensive. Maybe by the end of summer I'll have enough for the 100mm USM :D

  • @McNChz The 50mm f/1.8 is my favorite :) I got it back when it was $70 and I have to say, its the best lens everrrr
