first found out about Deftones on July 3rd 1996.Vans warped tour San Diego. My secound concert ever been to.I remember Chino onstage had dreadlocks. I was asking people around me, who is this.they said Deftones.The song that grabbed my attention was BORED.That was the beginning of me from switching to listening to Rap to dropping that.listening to Rock.At that time Rap went downhill and was the beginning of new metal. with Korn and Bizkit.and everyoine else.I got into rock music at perfect time

@erasedcitizen77 I wouldn't say by a long shot, I mean a lot of stuff on Around the Fur and White Pony have Chino rapping. Nu-metal isn't really that bad either, there's just not that many bands that fill the genre, and out of the few that do, most of them aren't all that good. You are right though, they had a ton more melody. Deftones is one of the most melodic bands out there.
