Southeast Limited Late Models to Debut at Florence Motor Speedway
The Southeast Limited Late Model Series (SLLMS), recently created by NASCAR notable and championship spotter Mike Calinoff, and Orion Motorsports owner Ed Cox, is ready to make its debut at Florence Motor Speedway (S.C.) on Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4. Florence Motor Speedway marks the first stop on the championship series five-race schedule and is sure to set the tone for the season.
Created to provide drivers with an affordable opportunity to race on larger speedways, the Southeast Limited Late Model Series is open to all competitors looking to gain valuable seat time. With a race schedule encompassing distinguished tracks like Hickory Motor Speedway (N.C.) and Myrtle Beach Speedway (S.C.), the drivers competing in the SLLMS will be able to expand their racing résumé and compete against some fierce competition.
The SLLMS is also going above and beyond to make sure that its competitors are rewarded for their performance. Every driver who starts an SLLMS race will automatically be guaranteed $250, with $3,000 on the line for the winner of the feature event. Paralleling their ultimate goal to provide short-track, grass-root racers the chance to progress their racing careers, the SLLMS Champion crowned at the final race in Myrtle Beach will also be provided with a test and evaluation in a NASCAR K&N Pro Series East car supplied by premiere motorsports team, Spraker Racing.
With such high stakes, the SLLMS has already attracted countless competitors with names like Justin Snow, Waylon Flynn, Cory Joyce and Matt Merrell appearing on the roster for the inaugural race.
"Based on the interest we have already seen in the series, Ed [Cox] and I are anticipating a great season," said SLLMS co-developer Mike Calinoff. "We're thrilled to be able to kick off the series at Florence Motor Speedway."
Pit gates will open Saturday, July 3, at 12:00 p.m. followed by practice at 1:00 p.m. and qualifying at 5:00 p.m. On Sunday, July 4, pit gates will open at 10:00 a.m., with driver introductions beginning on 3:15 p.m. The green flag will drop for the Southeast Limited Late Model 100 at 4:00 p.m.
