20 years? But Poppy Bush didn't declare him our enemy until 17 years ago. Oh, yeah. Before that, he was our golden boy in the Middle East. But wait! The Halabja massacre was 19 years ago. You mean he gassed hundreds of thousands of Kurds in his own country and remained our ally? Who would do that? Oh yeah, Poppy Bush. Why did Georgie Boy never mention that fact?

Right on! You just made a new fan. I like your perspective and I like your style.

NY Times not a liberal rag? Pure hyperbole? Jimmy, that claim is beneath you! A word of advice to my lefty friends (& I'm proud to say I have more than a few.. Be careful what you wish for - looks like you now have the house & senate. Let's see how & where you lead. Unlike the past, you WILL be held accountable.

This is a direct quote from Saddam in 2003. "If we had WMD we would have already used them on America." Now this is from Hilary in 2002. "We know and have known that Saddam Hussein has the deliberate intent to acquire, manufacture and use WMD against the United States." Yup. Listen man, deconstruction is sexy and easy. It's reconstruction that fixes things, not elasticating truth to fit a critical, inaccurate agenda.
I think you are missing the point of being critical... It is finally to improve. There is no progress without critcism. It's what checks and balnces are all about. Although you may diagree with me "fixing things" is exactly what I am trying to do. By the way the New York Times is hardly a liberal advocate, I would know better than you I worked there and knew the people who worked there and their policies. That statement is pure hyperbole.

Big dif between "genocide", which is the deliberate extermination of a people, & collateral damage. You trust such news agencies as the NY Times, Reuters, CNN, Al Jezzera, etc. I don't & we shouldn't. Other rebuts: to a&b: Clinton didn't contain Saddam - gimme a break.. Everyone (and I mean EVERYBODY) believed he was stockpiling WMDs. Tons o' UN resolution violations, rewarding suicide bomber families, etc. c) Freedom isn't free

"didn't contain sadaam" What didn't he contain? He never launched another offensive and he was unable to develop wmd's. That was the goal. The goal was acheived and it didn't cost billions. Guess what the "EVERYBODY" you refer to... they were wrong. They have created a whole new generation of terrorists. Those half a million people aren't just numbers, they were people, with families and friends and lives. Do you really believe no one will seek vengence for their senseless deaths?

Bad logic: If its on Google it must be true? 911's not an isolated incident - its the 1st of likely more attacks on the US. Iraq is strategically key - just look at a map. You keep ignoring the key word PREMATURE (i.e., withdrawl). Your label genocide is also impropper & if you think this collateral damage sucks, imagine rejuvinated terror masters w/ real WMDs. The ocean's no longer a buffer. I apologize about the name-calling. You're a smart guy & these "facts" are debate-able.

If you google it you will find the John-Hopkins survey that produced those numbers at many reputable news agencies. The u.n. and the clinton administartion did an excellent job of containing sadaam. I base this on the following. a) He never launched another offensive b) He was never able to make wmd's as evidenced by our invasion and inability to find any c) It didn't cost the u.s. billions, or troop causualties

Dear (bad?)ass: The war is against radical militant Islamists. The only thing western about your IQ on the middle east is that you are in denile (get it?)
This mid-term election is nothing but a referrendum on the war. Even tho I dispute your FACT re: a half million, I still lament the death of a single innocent life. If the US pulls out prematurely then it condemns a generation and many millions to bloody death. Freedom isn't free.

When you kill a half a million (not my number, google it) mostly innocent Iraqis and still haven't found the parties responsible for 911, then you are not fighting a war against terrorism, you are fighting a war against innocent people in the name of terrorism. I never said pull out, call me crazy, but I believe you can actually prevent terrorism without committing genocide as a side effect.
