Ups, that crescendo from 0:57 was not placed well...
On the other side: What I like about Bryn Terfel is his naturalness. He does not seem to care too much but just opens his mouth and - sings. He gains a lot of admiration for his uncomplicated way of performing, I think. Well, that's also a way.

I've seen him with Wagner's 'Der Ring Des Nibelungen. Here I recognize him again as a fullworthy opera singer. Opera singers are also actors. And he does both singing and acting very well. It's as if he speaks with his eyes..

I suggest you have your hearing tested. There is something seriously wrong in the transmission/processing of of the sound between your tympanum and your Wernicke's area.
