I just came back from Europe and saw all these wonderful, classic examples of architecture over 1000 years old. Yet, in this country, buildings become stale after 5 years. What is wrong with our culture today? Why were we geniuses 1000 years ago, when it came to buildings, and complete morons today? And don't worry, I didn't worry I didn't go to Paris

@johnsmdm Because Southern Europe has the most beautiful art and architecture on Earth, I'm sorry but Israel has nothing that can compare to the parthenon or to the Elgin marbles, that is not an insult but an axiom of reality.

Israel should stick to its own strengths i.e. religion.

Otherwise you only get disappointment after all hell is where the British are the chefs, the Swiss are the lovers, the French are the mechanics, the Italians make everything run on time

& the Germans are the police

Because the ancient Greeks and Romans were obsessed with human beauty and the same proportions were used in their architecture.

We on the other hand have gone down the road of the ugly and abstract. Compare Michelangelo's David to any piece of "modern art" which is just crap designed to be weird for the sake of being weird to gain controversy and notoriety. It's an insipid culture devoid of timeless beauty, obsessed with fads that pass and fade as quickly as they appeared.

Not only are our buildings crap, our roads are worse. The Romans built roads which are still used to this day.

very true, in my city they keep tearing down new buildings every 10 years or so & putting up more soulless shopping malls & car parks. I'm glad the old well crafted buildings are well protected otherwise they would have bulldozed those too!
