This is just like the one vwestlife has only the tuning knob got totally sheared off somehow (before I got it.) It works great but you just have to preset it to one station.

  • Looks nice and clean aside from the broken knob!

That preacher on the radio sounds like he could really use some Zicam himself!

  • He does sound kind of raspy although I think I may have had it slightly off tune...it was hard to get it tuned in exactly. This station has an all new solid state transmitter so it usually really sounds good.

  • I just got my hands on this model from E-Bay, and I like it a lot. The tuner is a little stiff but once a station is tuned in, it's fine. However, when I feel the top over the clock it's a little warm to the touch. Is this normal? I'm a little apprehensive in leaving the unit plugged in all the time with this situation. I think the sweeping second hand is cool.

  • That was Father Benedict Groeschel, on that radio.

  • I have an AM/FM version of this very radio. I don't know the model #.

  • Wow, I never saw a transformerless SS device b4!

  • I think they still sell spray cleaner for them at some Radio Shack stores.

  • The GE clock radios of the '70 always had the best sound. Most of the Asian brands had 3" slim profile speakers that were, practically speaking, tweeters. The dropping resistor was a bit scary looking, but I don't remember any problems with them.

  • We also had one of these when I was a kid.

  • My parents had a similar set, except it was faux wood with a blue face.

  • Hey Chad, you picked up some nice clock radios- what do you use to get the static out of the volume knobs? I usually try to work them back and forth a few times which seems to work, but a spray cleaner would be so much better.
