A hazel 'pollard' in an old park in the Lake District

A very unusual form of hazel -- previously only seen by us in Glen Finglas in Scotland and Glenamara Park also in the Lake District. It looks like it has been pollarded instead of the usual coppice form.

  • In Ambleside? looks like it's on a public right of way, where is this one? I can think of a few sites where there are some similarly large Hazels, I shall get my tape and get measuring!
