  • Those are focused horizontal chain punches relying on the forward mass and transfer of energy down from the ground up. If you were at the receiving end you would know. The idea is to relax and let structure, mass and acceleration do the job. Wing Chun power is aimed towards the middle of the target not beyond. It is pointless to aim to move the bag as the energy would be dispersed away from the target.

  • No, in any real fight its a good style, one of very few good styles, that can be used to defend one's self against an attacker, who is barehanded or armed, and against any other style. One would actually have to learn this style to understand what I'm trying to say. One cannot learn to fight from reading books or watching videos or demonstrations. Good Kung Fu looks bad, that's why Wing Chun isn't pretty

  • @Jank143 lol yeah kenpo fighting is different from street fighting, however Wing Chun does differ from most kungfu forms in that it can generate power with very little distance and movement. Look up some more info on wing chun and try not to judge the style because of a couple of idiots that dont know how to do the style. Look for the best of wing chun and judge it from that.

  • You're right but then again, a lot of martial arts are taught unrealistically these days. That is why I stopped training in kenpo. Sure, it looks great but the training is done with an opponent who doesn't resist, and hold his arm out while you work technique. I've trained with one of the top kenpo masters in the world, and his training was the same way. Then I sparred with an amateur boxer and his hands were so fast, I couldn't even get off most of the technique. I hate to try it on the street.

  • it can be a form of parrying but like i said its not really a good style to use in a fight its easy to say it will beat people if you like kung fu or wing chun. now dont get me wrong i like kung fu but their are just some kung fu that are not suited for battle.

  • Most of the drills you see here being performed quite badly are just sensitivity drills. The forms being shown are they to help you to remember the parries and strikes. Most of this is done standing still as it is not sparring. It is rare to see Wing Chun Sparring. Wing Chun is adapted to all and will defeat and except maybe Tai Chi.

  • point im getting is that this wont work in a real fight because the opponent is acutually resisting he aint going to stand their and take a blow watch any fight (they rush-do takedowns-move in and out-maybe jujitsu) they aint going to let you controll their hands or wait until you hit them first. Now dont get me wrong kung fu is nice but some martial arts aint adapted to all.

  • Yeah some people are all about the money.

Really Kung Fu, real Wing Chun is not about the money

  • I know the feeling.

But the is no belt grading system in Wing Chun.

But your Sifu can grade your performance personally

  • Hey, well he seems to know the Wing Chun forms, but his style is slightly different and it looks like he has added extra movements into some of his forms

  • Your knuckles must be vertical for face, neck and chest punches but Horizontal for punches lower than that. In a real confrontation you might not necessarily punch correctly depending on your training and you might not even remember what you did after you destroyed the other guy as it happens very fast.
