my fav, by far, is pavarotti. he sang with such ease and his voice was so natural. his diction was perfect as well. he was authentic, the virgin ear can have problems recognizing the other tenors, but pavarotti? you listen to one word and you know it's him singing.
i think there's too much snobbery in the classical music world and it doesn't look "cool" to name pavarotti as the best tenor because he crossed over into popular music and he was very famous and commercially succesful.

Great tenors. But my favorite Mario Lanza is missing

@mgdoom ok, but don't put Corelli in the best Nessun Dorma is like don't put Zico or Mihajlovic in best free Kicks....
-
Bocelli????Why???Where is Mario del Monaco,Franco Corelli??

Scroll down until the video isn't visible. Now, listen without knowing the identity of the singer. This will remove many biases.
I find they are more equal than one might guess.

0:57 :Luciano is the best by far but Domingo is wonderful too.

@Gustascon82 Non manca solo Corelli, mancano tutti eccetto questi...saluti
-
Nessuno di questi tenori ha la voce adatta per la parte di Calaf...manca nella lista: Bolton, Albano, Reitano, ecc...saluti

Please understand that it's very hard to get recordings that fit together, because of the different volume, quality of recording, etc. I did this just for fun, and obviously i think that there are many many singers that deserved to be on this list, but it was not possible.

could of put corelli, del monaco, di stefano, gigli all in there! Bocelli shouldn't be in that line up! but thats my opinion.

I know, and I agree with you...but it's hard to get records that can fit well together, because of the quality or speed of the record...

Great, relly!! but why you didn`t write Jose Carreras on the end??
Huljic 3 years ago
because in the "vincero" sequence Carreras, Pavarotti and Domingo sing together.
Multiple-tenor recondita armonia coming soon! :)
