A video in tribute to the French-Dutch decadent author and his most well known novel. Consisting of an assemblage of quotes from A Rebours, drawings by Arthur Zaidenberg, and an original piano song I wrote, this video should help convey something of the flavor and beauty of the original book.

  • whats the music piece?

  • @Yolanda696969 -- it's an original song by me, an amateur musician

  • thanks for your appreciation of the video. i might do la-bas some time in the indefinite future, but i haven't read the later durtal novels and, from what i've heard about them, likely will never get around to doing so.

  • strangest and greatest book i ever read

  • The mouth organ? is a famous episode in this story. Raymundus Lullus is a favorite author of the main character.

  • Must have been so hard to translate that brilliant novel... I love it so much i chose a quote from it and had it tattooed on my ribs! It will always remind me of what matters most to me in life.

  • Brilliant! Great selections on the quotes. When you doing a Durtal?
