A car struck a 26-year-old jogger, smashing his dreams to serve his country.
Geoffrey Sawyer is recuperating at Truman Medical Center from serious injures in Monday's collision.
A car struck Sawyer as he jogged the road circling the Wheeler Downtown Kansas City Airport, which is a popular spot for bicyclists and runners. Sawyer suffered two broken legs, a skull fracture, broken neck vertebrae and spleen damage.
His sister said it was a wonder he survived the hit.
Geoffrey Sawyer was supposed to take his physical training test Thursday to join the Army Reserves.
