Grace Kelly by The Yale Spizzwinks(?) extended version

The original full-length solo by Brennan Caldwell, then a member of The Yale Spizzwinks(?), with Scott McCreary. Brennan sang "Grace Kelly" with the Whiffenpoofs of Yale on NBC's "The Sing-Off" on December 6, 2010. This arrangement is by Nathaniel Granor of the Spizzwinks(?) and is featured on the Spizzwinks(?) album, Cause For Alarm! available at http://www.spizzwinks.com/store.

To clarify, Brennan Caldwell, Scott McCreary, Nathan Calixto, Matt Kroon, Dan Turcza and Kent Twardock were sophomore members of the Spizzwinks(?) when this video was shot in April 2009. All six were tapped to be members of the Whiffenpoofs of 2010-11, a group composed solely of seniors whose members are selected from among the underclass a cappella groups at Yale. Five of the six appeared on The Sing-Off. (Matt Kroon was unavailable to participate when the first four Sing-Off episodes were taped in late August and early September).

All members of the Spizzwinks(?) are underclassmen (freshmen, sophomore and juniors). My son Brennan sang this song when he was a sophomore member of the Spizzwinks(?) in April 2009. Other sophomore members at the time were Scott McCreary, Nathan Calixto, Matt Kroon, Dan Turcza and Kent Twardock. All six were tapped to be members of the Whiffenpoofs of 2010-11, a group composed solely of seniors whose members are selected from among all underclass a cappella groups at Yale.

SENSATIONAL arrangement, BEAUTIFULLY performed!! The articulation of the arpeggio figuration in the coda, to single out one tiny example of the arranger's skill and the group's attention to detail, is perfection. Okay, this performance drifts sharp, but given the amount of noise the audience is making, that is hardly surprising. Gold stars all round - what a team they were...
