You're listening now to Part 1 of several radio adds, tips and instructions by CONELRAD Civil Defense Radio for what to do in the Case of a nuclear atttack on the U.S.A. Even some stars (Conny Francis,Johnny Cash etc.) of those days are promoting.
The radio records are from ~ 1956. Thank God that CONELRAD never went into action except in drills!

All the Audio is for educational purposes only.

Watch the movie "The Atomic Cafe" -- it's a compilation of US government propaganda films from the 1940s and '50s. It has all the classics, including "Duck and Cover", but my very favorite is a theatrical short assuring men (only -- apparently this wasn't a concern for women) that radiation-induced hair loss would be temporary, and easily covered by a hairpiece if you wanted to bother. (The visual effects strongly implied that it would also look EXACTLY like male-pattern baldness.)

  • Should have been in fallout

  • @Darkshade0115 It is, if you own the PC version, and aren't against mods. ;) Just search fallout mods conelrad, should find it. I have it. It puts another station on your pipboy. I think it has like 30 minutes of authentic conelrad recordings, and a bunch of atomic related music from that age(50s, etc). Fits right in.

  • @Darkshade0115 there is a mod that dose that for NV

  • "THIS IS A CONELRAD DRILL!" (insert fanfare here)

  • @Darkshade0115

It is, theres a mod for both FO3 and New Vegas that adds it.

  • @TelcoPhil My friends found a public one on a trip to Wyoming. Still had food and everything.

  • @redhook4 Yes. Was originally a Fallout 3 mod - it´s awesome

  • @Darkshade0115 It is..go download it form New vegas Nexus

  • @cairne13 That's surprisingly accurate when compared to other transcriptions I've seen using Transcribe Audio. I've seen the word "Wyoming" used in it's transcription of "If I Were A Rich Man".
