FIVE ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE THREATENS NEIGHBORHOOD ((HD))

Nine One One Dispatchers received a call at 17:11 HRS/PDT of a structure fire located at 15 Susan Gale Court, in the foothills of Menlo Park. Fire Trucks responded to this Large Structure a Tri-plex which was comprised of three large multi-level family homes surrounded by lush trees and foliage. Upon arrival the Menlo Park Fire crews found a three-story wood shingled structure with an attic fully ablaze. Within seconds of their arrival, flames spread across that large shingle roof and then engulfed that walls and spreading throughout the building. A First , Second and Third Alarms were called as the inferno grew and the danger increased. The fire was fully established and was growing in intensity causing numerous spot fires on other nearby structures and trees as the fire sent out flaming brands throughout the neighborhood. A Fourth Alarm and then a Fifth Alarm were called to protect the other structures and trees and wooded areas nearby. With all the resources brought to bare from Mutual Aid from other cities to attack the fire and the quick work of first responding skilled fire fighters from menlo Fire Department. The fire was stopped and kept from spreading to other structures and wild-land areas. Fire investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze. The first estimates of structural damage is estimated to be in excess of a million dollars. Menlo Park Fire Protection District Chief Harold Schapelhouman told this reporter.
