Fedor Emelianenko vs Brett Rogers PART 2/2 + Ending Comments (STRIKEFORCE CBS 7/11/2009)

This was the highly anticipated Fedor Emelianenko vs Brett Rogers fight held on 7th November 2009, 9pm ET. After a comparison of the two fighting Andrei Arlovsk, Fedor seemed to get off a lucky KO for the victory and Rogers proved to find Arlovsk quite an easy task to dominate. From this grew contraversy on wether or not Fedors crown of the worlds best MMA fighter would be passed down to rogers.

I apologise for the quality, I had to miss the fight due to being at work and this is a recording of a live stream from the american TV channel CBS to my home in australia thus buffering lag and audio faults were present.

Fedor: "Well, Brett is undoubtedly a great fighter. But I noticed some things about his footwork and decided to capitalize on it.

Fedor: "If Brett wants to, of course, why not? Also, big thanks to Brett for that fight."

Fedor: "I would like to thank everyone for their support, for cheering for me. Now at this time in Russia in my favorite native country millions of Orthodox Russians cheered for me, this is their victory, not mine."



A little bit of my own input aswell. The reason Fedor hasn't joined UFC is because of the way Dana White runs it. If you watch a recent video from Tito Ortiz, you'll see that hes been there for 11 years and speaks of how poorly Dana White looks after his fighters. Fedors smart enough to not get stuck in a contract like that.

@MMArmaggedon I think it is more that the heavyweights got a lot bigger and Fedor got older and lost his power, speed and especially his reflexes. He can no longer snip his opponents on the holes in their games as effectively as he did back in PRIDE because he can't react as fast, and even if he could, he no longer can punch and submit as fast as he once did. The Fedor of 2004 is invincible, IMO. If you brough him to fight JDS today, he would take him to the ground and submit him or outbox him.
