Driveway De-icing System

The proposed design of the Driveway De-icing System uses a control system to distribute a brine solution onto a driveway via a controller to melt snow and ice. Brine solution is more efficient at melting snow and ice than traditional rock salt, thus minimizing de-icing salt contamination in the environment. Furthermore, users can de-ice their driveways without stepping outdoors. The device dispenses the brine solution automatically by analyzing weather data retrieved through data mining of a internet weather source.

The video highlights the paneled design of the system. Panels are installed along the length of the driveway each consisting of pumps and dispensing nozzles. The panels feed into a brine storage tank via a plumbing network.
