This is one of the earliest recordings of this song. Done by the White Stripes in the midst of a WDET radio special on February 3, 1999. In the Blackpool Lights booklet, it states "this song was actually recorded for (but not included on) the debut album with a slightly different structure and without distortion." I figure this is the one he was talking about.

  • its cool listening to how the song first sounded but i can see why they didn't include it on their debut, didn't really fit their sound at the time

  • This reminds me of the cover of "One More Cup of Coffee" from the first album. I love the version from White Blood Cells. This is very raw to me.

  • I like this song but I clicked dislike just cuz no one else has yet.

  • Wow love this version is simply perfect...both versions are really amazing in their own way. The videos great too!! Jack so cute singing all by himself lol.

  • That was wicked, never heard this version before, good job :)

  • catchyoutube.....com

  • can someone send me the mp3 please

  • Oh wow!!

I'm so happy to have heard this!!

I think the sweetness of the lyrics come through much more in this version because they're prominent without the distorted guitar behind it. Not to say I don't like the White Blood Cells version because I do, it's one of my very favourite songs by them, but it's wonderful to hear it the way it was originally intended :)

  • This was an interesting set, I used to have the whole set around somewhere, if I remember correctly they also played Screwdriver and Sugar Never Tasted So Good, among other songs.

  • amazing! Pure raw, and uncut. NICE FIND!

  • nice!!
