go to your game options and you may have the short lifetime selected. There's a bar that you can drag to make your sims' lives really long or short or regular

it works just fine\ for me and i have a laptop

is ur's a laptop cause if it is thats why i have a com and a lap it works better on my computer go on the internet and type in: can you run it?. and a computer testing thing should come up test your computer to c if it has the right amount of pixels and stuff! P.S i hope that helped
