The new for 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera (which for the Porsche purist, carries the designation 997) receives a restyle along traditional lines, including round headlights. Engine power increases to 325 ponies, and a six-speed manual gearbox is now standard. Eighteen-inch wheels are stock issue, and ceramic brakes are optional for those who want to stop as fast as they go. A revamped interior promises to coddle the senses, and the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus allows drivers to count laps, clock lap times, or just see how long it takes to get to Starbucks in the morning.

  • they aren't American muscle drag cars.. they're made for winding roads and driving pleasure.

  • I love German cars as well, especially Audis. How would a new Audi TTS do against this? That'd be a decent competition.

  • its great but i cant help but to think that 91k is just simply too much for this car.

  • 2:08 did you hit the curb??

  • @linn1000 Welcome to the club !! Anyone who disagrees with us just doesn't know what it is. I live n the mountains & the roads here r a Porsche drivers dream. The only cars that can hang with me r other 911s. Check out the videos of a road called the "Tail of the Dragon"...it's not too far from me (318 curves in an 11 miles) It's mostly crotch rockets that are running it hard & I haven't had one pass me yet. Be safe! But, as the guy who sold me my first one said, "drive it like u stole it"

  • @iwasgointo have you driven both cars on long journeys? The 911 has got more room granted, but the cayman's engine which is nicely audible makes a better sound right behind you, depending on options I think that both cars are remarkably similar. We have driven both cars across europe and it's the Cayman that gets the nod.. however the Gen 2 997 carrera is a much more refined car to drive.. and probably better at long distances.

  • @whiteboy5480 dont underestimate audi

  • @youmils03 the tts wouldnt be good competition but the tt- rs would be

  • I have owned and driven two Carreras over the last 12 years....they have been my daily drivers. Anyone who is a dedicated 911 driver will never be happy driving anything lower on the food chain....

  • @6UNLEASHED No doubt the Cayman is a nice car, but it's far too noisy. Granted, the 911 is more expensive, but is's a much more refined car to drive, especially, on long trips. The Cayman is good for thrashing about and exploring it's handling limits, but overall, the 911 delivers more thrills and comfort. I personally, would rather buy a 2 year old, low mileage, factory certified 911over any Cayman.

  • @youmils03 no audi can compete with porsche

  • @coolerdude44 your 100% correct...the Cayman S will not be denied its evolution in the Porsche foodchain, its gaining the tools it SHOULD HAVE HAD back in 06' to take on the bigger cars, like the 911! my opinion, why spend the extra 15k+ to buy a 911 when you can get a Porsche Cayman S with all the newest toys and gadgets with an additional trunk for less?
