Joe Carter signing @ Dufferin Mall in Toronto (Aug. 8, '09)

I've followed this man as a player since my childhood as a Blue Jays fan! I still remember watching him hit that home run to win the 1993 World Series for the Blue Jays! Last year, I lined up hoping to get his autograph ... but was sadly informed that the line was too big & that he wouldn't sign any autographs for the people far back in line! The day before, two big lineups also cost me an opportunity to meet Joe Carter: one big lineup @ a get together of the 1992 & 1993 alumni @ the TD Centre Courtyard, and another lineup @ the Rogers Centre @ the Blue Jays game where all the alumni members were gathered! On Sat. Aug. 8, 2009, Carter was scheduled to appear @ Dufferin Mall from 12 PM to 1 PM! Considering that there was a Blue Jays game going on in an hour, the stadium is a long way from the mall, & there were plenty of Blue Jays alumni players from 1992 & 1993 down there signing autographs for fans, that would cut down on the amount of Blue Jays fans in attendance! Moreover, this appearance wasn't too heavily promoted! Factor all that, plus me getting there as early as I could, & I finally got a chance to meet the man @ last! Very nice find! Just like you, I tried to get JC's autograph at the Flashback Friday but I didn't get there early enough.

Then I tried again at the Back2Back reunion game, but the line was 13 sections away from Joe by the time I got up there.

Next time I think I will try one of these events like the BBQ or mall signings and maybe there will be better luck there!

Yeah, the turnout @ Dufferin Mall wasn't as crazy as the Back2Back & the Flashback Friday for the reasons stated on my video description, so a few people ended up lining up more than once (including myself)! I had him sign two old newspapers covers from the day after his epic homer, & I had a photo taken with him!
