Homeschoolers sing the National Anthem at the Illinois State Capitol

Hundreds of homeschoolers sing the National Anthem at the Illinois state capitol in Springfield, IL, on February 15, 2011. It is estimated that 4,000 homeschoolers and homeschooling proponents gathered, in an effort to show disapproval of the proposed Senate Bill 136, which would negatively regulate homeschooling freedoms in Illinois.

I was proud to be part of the crowd. =)

Seeing this filled me with pride to be a home schooling American. We would have been there but we had a pipe burst and a flood to deal with. God is so good to have given us a home schooling family who bans together to support each other.

The law is not just a little innocent thing. We don't need any help from the state. We didn't ask for help. This so called help is a power grab being dressed up as something nice. We say No Thank You.

I think the senate means well. Nobody wants kids growing up to join militias or some other hillbilly mafia. There are a lot of uneducated people joining radical groups who have some religious tones. However, this demonstration was an awesome display of national pride and loyalty. :-) I would like to add also that it seems the law is just asking children be registered so the state can see they have access to immunization, nurse, and are actively learning.
