I hate the 6011s. The slag is a bitch to get off.

@ImRamro.... Now don't hate. You say in the video to "...please post a comment.". Here it goes: nice video first of all. Second, if u want nice looking welds, do yerself a favor... DON'T USE HARBOR "FRIGHT" RODS! Contrary to what you think, they are garbage! Go to Home Depot and use Lincoln brand. (Hobart is excellent too). 6011's are messy looking. Try 6013's or 7024's (flat position only) for really smooth looking welds to practice with.

@Trex1268 I am no pro welder, but any time I use old rods or rods that are cracked I cant strike an arc to save my life, lol.

Is this AC only? I have an updated AC/DC stick and E6011 is the only rods I have a bitch of a time starting. Maybe I need more practice, but 6013,7014, 7018, &7018AC are no problem.
Your hearts in the right spot kid but you really need to learn what your talking about before you send someone off to a weld shop supplier looking like a retard.
E6011 is cellulose rod and the SIZE IS 3/32! The size is NOT 6011. E means arc welding electrode 60 means the maximum tensile strength and 1 means all position and the 1 means the electrode covering type; in this case its cellulose, potassium. A better rod would be a hygroscopic rod (basic, iron powder) because it gives a better qual

@weldorguy Thanks, maybe you should post a video to help out the people that don't know much about welding like me.

I just bought an old arc also and am jealous also, ha ha ha, your lucky you got a good old thunderbolt, i've heard good things about them;
The garage I'm in isn't wired for heavy current and I also use the e6011 small rods as they don't use much power and won't trip the breaker as often;
It looked like old bed frame metal you were welding on, which isn't the easiest stuff to practice on, but you pulled of a awesome weld.
like the previous comment ,,,U made it look easy, thanks for the video

@FIXWCBCANADA Thank you for the compliments, the Thunderbolt runs flawlessly. I went over to your channel, is that you who was injured? Wow your situation sounds remarkably similar to mine. I was out of work for a year and a half with a severe back injury and had to jump through all kinds of hoops to return.

@Zorack10 We worked out a little trade, but it was practically free. I love this welder and the old ways of sticking metal together. Thanks for watching.
