Nottinghamshire Police is replacing its 0300 300 9999 number with a new non-emergency number -- 101.

The three-digit number will help keep communities safe by giving people one easy way to contact officers.

Its introduction comes after the 2010 British Crime Survey found that only 54% of people knew how to contact their local police if they wanted to talk about policing or crime.

And the 101 number will go live in Nottinghamshire on Monday 7 November 2011.

  • Dial 101 if you have your motorbike stolen, notts police will take it away and then charge you £250 to get it back. Next time my bike is stolen, I won't be dialing 101.
