Cheers for this Ken. My brother has caught me in that variation of the Kimura a couple of times. I just tapped. Now we have something else to practice along with it. It is one of the few techniques that we practice the execution of without practicing the escape. We try to learn the escapes at the same time as learning the techniques to be able to see the indicators more clearly, which helps the flow during rolling.

Thank you very much

@BkzBrawler666 To be fair, I think that once your in this position you are screwed. This is just something to try to maybe give a moment to escape and I think it is useful.

Anyone with any power will be able to lift you enough to sink in the kamara

@vanity81 thanx mate...

@cybertiger19 the way i see it...
nogueira lost the guillotine and went into his patented sitout position he uses often by holding onto mir's right wrist with his left hand, and he was holding onto mir's shorts with the right hand. usually from this position you try to step over immediately, but nogueira was content to hang out there, and as soon as he stepped over mir started attacking the kimura, as nog had basically left it there (whereas generally you would leave it inbetween the legs)

This is really a ground breaking point. I choose to call it passive defensive bjj. Dont know if it makes sense but thats the way i feel it. You must use technique in order to first make it passive, the technique in a active way.

I love this sport. Evolution of human capabilities at their finest.

you know Ken I went back to re-watch the fight after watching your video. It appears that Nog was trying to do what you demonstrated, it just seems that Mir merely overpowered him, even with the left foot on the mat as leverage. Is there anything else you can possibly do to combat this? Especially against a bigger guy 20lbs heavier?
there are break downs..then there is Ken's break down....
