...there is a much better way that does not leave any conduct tape or shrink tubes or whatever, i have done this 100+ times to different headset,headphones, my last project was exactly like the headset you are using but i welded the htc cable(after the control buttons) directly to the speakers inside (now i have htc/Koss headset with great sound, check my video?

i have them headphones they suck i got them with my htc hd they where all right for a while now only one headphone works

@thaGkillah , @richogem , and @pyronathanpyro , he did that because as everyone knows headphones all break eventually so he just saved the headache instead of having to unsolder n re solder 100 times when they break he can just plug in a new pair instead of spending money on a new mic attachment because headphones are cheaper then head sets... :/

handy tip on the tinning of the wire! I always have trouble getting solder to stick to headphone wires
