28.02.2009. Concert for Children. Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra. Matas Ligeika (piano), Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra, Mindaugas Piecaitis (conductor). Arranged for chamber orchestra by Mindaugas Piecaitis
Lovely tune. Brings back memories of golden sunsets with fog tumbling over the hills between the Defense Language Institute (Known in '58-'59 as the Army Language School) right on time at about 16:00-17:00 hrs. And then the ringing of the buoy bells in the bay and going to sleep to the far off barking of the sea lions over the hill, among the rocks in the Pacific. Dale, in the next "cube" playing "One Never Knows" by the MJQ, or ol' "Bun" quietly strumming his guitar. The best of days. zzzz
Okay, a comment then. This is a perennial favorate at Pops Concerts all over the world. It's evocative. Sensitive.... Wistful... it can emote anything you want it to be: a cat waking from a nap and cleaning itself in the rays of the sun steaming through the gauze window curtains; an old woman looking pensively at a faded black an white dog-eared photo; curling up with a cup of hot tea on a Sunday afternoon. Pensive....
Good times & bad. Leroy knew how to do it better thatn anyone else.
It was so nicely played that I think Leroy Anderson would have enjoyed the performance if he had been there himself...

Sucj a beautiful piece. It used to be the closing theme for Channel 7 Eyewitness News in the early 1970s.
