    Yes, I am implying that. A stmt like that (i.e. origins, etc) requires a set of unprovable a priori beliefs (axioms). You also require faith (a true one at least) before science can start, as there's no point in experimenting if the principle of uniformity in nature doesn't hold.     I think you misunderstand what 'faith' is (the Christian one at least). That aside, yes I'm implying that materialism is a faith just like theism. Why? Because everyone, even those who claim to have 'no religion', has a set of basic unprovable axioms that are used to interpret the world around them. Eg. claiming that nature is responsible for limbs (and that humans are animals) fits this. Also, faith is necessary before science can start. Eg: There's no point in science w/o uniformity in nature.
