@lordisode yeah mate, but what countries would need them first ??
non-Oil producers maybe ? cheers !

@markkellr If you have enough wind turbine distributed over a large area plus some large flywheel storage devices.
It is more expensive than coal for sure but this because the coal in not priced as it should.
-
wind power doesnt save coal burning. if you are running a wind turbine you need to have a coal burning station running at the same time just incase the wind stops.

@MegaFridolin The Enercon one is designed for a location with very high winds (It also needs to be heavy to withstand those high loads) The Vestas one doesn't exist yet, but should be lighter (per m of blad) ... and yet extract the same amount of energy from a place with less wind (because of the larger rotor area)

@GeorgeFlush322 Great idea! We need these in America!

it would take about 4 to power Mitt Romneys house.... 2 for EACH of his houses.
I want one!

hay onyone got a clue why enercon has a 126m daimeter and gets 7.5 mw out of this thing and the vestas v160 needs a larger diameter to produce 7mw? is it all down to the gearlex generator and the liquid cooling?

@MegaFridolin it depends on the average wind speed for which it was designed
