At the very start of the video it looks as though the drashig has been animated!

besides, they didn't have CGI back in the 70s so this is pretty much the best they could do back then.

CGI has made it too bland. These monsters have a magic to them that has been lost today.

I would love to see the Drashigs appear in the new Doctor Who series. They would make an awesome enemy. Instead of fighting aliens with intelligence and battle plans, why not fight an alien animal threat like the Drashigs?
Carnival of Monsters is a great story. Too bad my dvd of it is knackered. always freezes during episode 2 =(
