  • Actually, though, I must say that learning Daito-ryu is inherent in understanding aikido, and vice versa. For aikidokas, I strongly believe that exposure to Daito-ryu will indeed help us to understand aikido itself further, ever since Daito-ryu is the ancestor of aikido. If Morihei Ueshiba didn;t learn Daito-ryu, maybe we would never know the present-day aikido :)

  • @Zulog1 Good point but one could also easily argue the opposite with taking for example languages. One can achieve mastery and understanding of say: French language, without ever needing to know Latin, its root.

  • Merci pour le partage ne manque plus que des sous-titres pour les passages en japonais....

  • @reuelckj i think you should choose one. in aikido there is a whole philosophy coming from ueshiba's view of the world. find out about this and if it appeals to you go learn aikido.

  • Should I learn Aikido first, then do Daito-ryu at the same time (Or Daito-ryu, then Aikido)? Or just do Aikido/Daito-ryu?

  • 12:20 食事のシーンは「餃子の王将」です。

  • Fantastic video. I study Shodokan Aikido and I can definitely understand what some of the students were saying.

  • @SenNoSenProject But still, if you know both you still have a better understanding of it.

  • @SenNoSenProject The interesting and beautiful thing about language and perhaps martial arts is that different languages contain words and concepts that are not reflected in other languages but are unique. Latin is a root language still used in science, whilst it is not really necessary to study it to be fluent ("mastery" is relative not absolute) in French, even a cursory understanding of it can offer insights and perspective into other languages and their paradigms.

    Great vid!!

  • Impressive! Thank you. I should like to find out more now I've seen this. Thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks again.

  • Very good, informative, high quality video - thanks :-)
