If you're pregnant and over 40 or you are having twins you could be at risk of developing preeclampsia. Visit www.ThePregnancyShow.com

  • This is not true. High blood pressure is a symptom of pre-eclampsia which is caused by an abnormally implanted placenta. The only cure for pre-eclampsia is delivery and it can be extremely dangerous to both mother and fetus if not recognised quickly. Doctors may be able to stabilise your blood pressure for long enought to allow the baby more time to develop but pre-eclampsia doesn't just cure itself.

  • It can be controlled if caught early enough with blood pressure medications, rest and appropriate diet. Until then, look up the Brewer's Diet and try to follow it. It can help prevent high blood pressure.

  • can this be prevented...like through diet or taking lots of rest?please response...I'm 16 weeks pregnant and just gave birth last May 7 at 27 weeks. My baby survived for only a month and a week...now i'd like to prevent the same thing to happen this time....please advice, i'm from the philippines...the hospital here is so expensive and we're still recovering form previous depths because of what happened before....

  • i was 23 60kgs(prebaby weight) no real problems just a low platelet count during pregancy(was seeing doctors every week with the low platelet count) had swelling of the ankles towards the end (middle of a hot! summer jan 08) then during labour my i had protien in the urine and my bp rocketed then i swelled up big time. Prolonged 2nd stage so as i wasn't doing pushing to well i had an hour to give it my all before they steped in Ventouse extract. Baby and my self were fine right after the birth

  • I think that it's worth noting that preeclampsia often comes to pregnant women who hit NONE of the indicators (over 40, existing blood pressure problems, high BMI, etc). That was me. Regardless, I developed this disease very quickly and had to deliver my daughter early. One indicator of preeclampsia that is not mentioned in this video is PROTIEN IN THE URINE. Prenatal visits (including urine tests at each visit) often detect preeclampsia before it can cause further harm to mother or baby.
