PRELIMINARY PRODUCT INFORMATION
The PMW-F3L is part of the CineAlta 24P family of digital cinematography products and its support for multiple frame rates includes a filmic 23.98P as well as S-Log workflows.

Sony's Exmor™ Super35 CMOS sensor was designed with the benefit of two decades experience in Digital Cinematography, pioneering digital HD acquisition for feature films and broadcast TV through the legendary CineAlta product range. It brings a true 'film look' and superior image quality into reach for independent movies, pop promos, commercials and other applications, as well as making the PMW-F3L an ideal B-camera for high-end feature film production.

The PMW-F3L is supplied with an industry standard PL Mount adaptor, providing compatibility with industry standard 35mm lenses. (Also available is the PMW-F3K with three 35mm lenses.)

Exceptional flexibility is a key feature of the PMW-F3L along with multiple workflow options. XDCAM EX's proven high-speed, intuitive workflow offers seamless integration with leading nonlinear editing software - as standard. In addition, a 10bit 4:2:2 HD-SDI output opens up hybrid recording possibilities with a variety of external recording devices. And from April 2011, a Dual Link HD-SDI option will enable 10bit RGB uncompressed signal output - ideal for the high-end film production.

  • Oh yeah and there is a 1080P version on another video sharing website if you want to compare and contrast ..

  • I directed the movie. When I first saw the footage projected on a 30' screen in a grading theatre I was pretty blown away. I love DLSRs but you get used to working with the limitations they impose. The F3 is just a much better camera and you really see it when you get into the grade. Still got a 550D, still use it from time to time, but DLSRs are being overtaken for serious work IMHO. DOF is only part of the story. Resolution and dynamic range are another. 360P doesn't really tell you much.

  • there are alot of guys like me on here that work for production companies that will check online video work posted by a potential DP that we'll hire. For the "serious" DP's out there, big budget to medium budget's, mention the use of DSLR you'll get pass over for work. Making a demo video of 5D MKII just to post on online is easy. Trying to do it in a film/video production is a nghtmare, we hired 3 DP's this year with a F3 and very satisfied with results along with client we shot for.

  • wow, alot of experts commented on here with Canon 5D MKII. Considering the fact I would NEVER hire any potential DP's with only a dslr as their main camera. here's some little tidbits I know from owning a 5D myself. It doesn't not have hd-sdi out, hdmi out for external recorder, you can only use hdmi out for monitor only, can only record 12 minutes of video max before the sensors overheat and need to cool down. no frame-sync and other host of input/ouput needed for production.

  • Very poor quality, convention video cam is no longer appeal to serious videographers, they are going to DSLR.

  • Canon 5D Mk 2 can do twice as good....Dslr is the way to go,,, no more conventional video cam like this one...it's too old of a techs. This test shows this Sony's quality is way inferior when compare to Canon 5D Mk2.

  • nice short... but the guy is creepy

  • HOT

  • @mrwashur1991 honestly, i can see the difference in cheap cam and an expensive cam even in 360p.. look at the quality and colour and the background image and the richness in those shadows! differentiate those in the movie and those amatuer vids.. and this vid has that movie quality! thought its a few thousand dollar cam.. i was looking for pmwf3 actually.. tsk.. it does look gorgeous.. dont bother bout those peeps.. they cant tell movie quality or cheapo cams..

  • @mrwashur1991 wow dude lighten up i was just making a joke and btw i think this camera is great , but i was just making an observation
