I awoke the other night from a dream where an ethereal young woman was playing me this song on the piano. Maybe someone is trying to tell me something...

As always thank you for listening and comments are greatly appreciated.

EDIT:
The middle interlude is a little too long. Sorry about that and thank you for sticking with it...

Lyrics
---------------------------------

Wide awake in bed lying
Tears still drying
Tattered thoughts haunt you
Fears have caught you

Don't let the walls close around you
You know I'll see you through

CHORUS
When you are forced to crawl
When it's your time to fall
When there's no use at all
I will comfort you

Bittersweet, life's journey
Tides keep turning
Out of breath, lungs burning
Ceaseless yearning

Don't let your dreams fade on you
You know I'll be there soon

CHORUS x2

When you wonder why
And you start to cry
Till those tears are dry
I will comfort you
I will comfort you

  • I'm a sucker for ethereal dream songs as I've heard heaps too and probably more of what I've posted have come from dreams than anywhere else. This one is very lovely. It has a classic ring to it; even the line "I will comfort you" sounds good rather than merely predictable.

  • I had this dream the day the stock market hit the bottom - I am in finance so believe me it was a stressful time - and woke up knowing that things were going to get better soon.

Unlike the rest of my dream songs where the song is clear and I have to find it, I was actually watching the woman play it on the piano so I could see what chords she was playing.

I considered giving it to a female artist, but chose to keep it and alter the key to suit my voice.

  • I hear ya Justin - a very pretty melody, amazing really, I'm always impressed with your talent. lyrics are great to say the least. :) ***** & Fav - Piano - bowed upright bass or Cello, and maybe a harmony on the hook and oohs would round this one out perfectly. We'd make a hell of pair on the coffee house circuit :) JM

  • Just realized I hadn't commented - are you in good enough shape to start making those coffee house rounds?

  • Beautiful song Justin, I just now got around to listening and really glad I did. I look forward to sharing and hearing more from you as well. Wishing you a very peaceful week ahead. Mark

  • Thanks Mark. Happy New Year.
