that kid with the blue shirt really wishes that everything happens exactly like the textbooks he is clearly citing when he responded to anne's rebuttals.

the investors in other echnologies will not implement those technologies becaues the price of oil can be manipulated back down and back up to break any competition. the conservative kid is confused and not very bright to have this blind faith in the market and not look at any other factors. certainly not someone that engenders any confidence of trust by me.

know, it's a state secret. Think that the presumption of this oil reserve may be wrong and they have less oil than you say, so we might fight against the cartel but never succeed in our goal. So breaking that cartel as a primary objective may not be such a fundamental issue as to break forever our dependence on oil.

They are refering to OPEC and if you actually search Google (duh!) you will see a plethora of articles that detail how these "cartels" (or OPEC) control the price of oil...

Go back to the 1st and 2nd parts of her speech and re-scrutinize her speech...

She presents no evidence that radical islam is devistating the oil market. Although Anne sounds good initially, upon scrutiny one can easily see how contradictory and incorrect her opinions are.

After hundreds of attacks, how much has oil production been affected? Negligible.

I agree that we need to take oil out of the transportation equation, since we use 70% of our oil on that, but to suggest that radicals are setting price is juvenile.

As far as I understand oil price is dictated by market speculation and supply. When you have wars near pipelines then people get scared and the price of oil goes up. If you believe in peak oil then one would come to understand why OPEC would not be so willing to raise it's supply, that is if what she says is even true. Also if there is plenty of oil then there would be stockpiles in case of any "terrorist" attacks which shouldn't effect supply.

Furthermore, it should go without saying that Bush's campaign to save the world from terrorism is what hiked up the prices in the first place.

First, it does not matter if radical islam is doing this purposefully. The results it that gas is overpriced and the profits go to the middle east. This is something global that the free market does not and has not resolved because the vulnerabilty of our country is not something the oil companies care about. she is right, we are at war. oil companies are not on our side either.
