I can see why other people like her now, but I will tell you why I still don't find her so appealing. It's OK if you disagree. There's something about her tonal production that is off. To me, it sounds as if she's singing through her nose. The tone has a hard edge, but it's hollow, and there's little meat to it, although the size is larger than most coloraturas. Admittedly, this is the best clip I've heard of her particularly on Youtube. She does have some nice phrasing and pianissimi.

I think Mariella Devia has a extremely beautiful voice, and great talent. We were born the exact same day! She must have been close to the front of the line line for beauty of voice, and I was on the back half of the line of souls. Darn! :~)

Yokay, @nichtsleezy - calm the fuck down. I don't like Devia's acting - I think it's awful - and while she is gifted with a terrific voice, I don't like her singing. It is not 'perfect'. And because I know you disagree, I won't take you through why I think her sound is so wretched. I in turn could give a fuck why she's obviously your favourite. And I will most certainly continue to listen to her channels, because I am a hater, and I shall continue to hate.

@gustopheles The hype is that her sound and technique are so perfect. One does not hear this sort of perfection live often. The hype is that she places beauty in sound before allowing the drama of acting to interfere with the beautiful singing. If you want more acting, don't listen to her channels.

I always end up taking forever to finish watching an opera(I get them from Netflix, YAY!), because I prefer to do it in one sitting, but I'm always busy and end up having to stop and watch the rest later. She is a very good actress. And an incredibly good singer. Brava!
