Call to Arms assignment for Timothy Wandling Eng 472.
About the song: the setting is in the not-too-distant future where California's budget deficit has finally necessitated in the closure of its state parks. The song is intended to communicate the tragedy involved with the aftereffects of losing the state's natural treasures which could have been prevented by the Californians' passing of a state ballot measure up for vote in their not-too-distant-future, this coming November. The call to arms aspect is in communicating how present and pressing of an issue the closure of California's state parks is, and how soon something the audience can do to make a real change in the present and future for California. The musical and lyrical aspects are meant to communicate intensity and fervor respectively. The song title is in reference to this beautiful thing we abound in, which is threatened to be financially abandoned.
