http://www.pbs.org/pov/pov2008/johnnycash Broadcast Date: August 5, 2008 In this classic 1969 documentary, the Man in Black is captured at his peak, the first of many in a looming roller-coaster career. Fresh on the heels of his Folsom Prison album, Cash reveals the dark intensity and raw talent that made him a country music star and cultural icon. Director Robert Elfstrom got closer than any other filmmaker to Cash, who is seen performing with his new bride June Carter Cash, in a rare duet with Bob Dylan, and behind the scenes with friends, family and aspiring young musicians. "Johnny Cash: The Man, His World, His Music" paints an unforgettable portrait that endures beyond the singer's 2003 death.

  • @oudski Too much focus visually on JCC and not enough on JC! lol

  • @liam6177 Why did you compare him to Elvis? Of all singers you chose Elvis. That just proves Elvis is and always will be #1. Even Johnny knew this. He liked Elvis and vice versa. They respected each other. RIP Elvis and Johnny & June.

  • Best rendition ever , Nailed it

  • Best rendition ever !

  • I Always Thought Johnny Cash Was Better Than Elvis, Yes Folks Elvis, Elvis Didn't Write His Own Songs, Johnny Cash Did, (Type In Johnny Cash THP 1958 (On Youtube) and it is one of the greatest shows Ever

  • Man, June could sing her ass off

  • It's great seeing Johnny and June together on stage back in the day.

I don't like most country music, though, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do.

And for the people who like country music, "denigrate" means put down.

  • i have chill bumps

  • I received prison cd when my daughter was just 4 months and she loved the music. She jumped continuely in her jumper to the beat of each song! She always requests jonny cash when traveling and sings along to most songs at 2 1/2 (a collection cd no prophanity). His music is very moving it speaks true conviction and great love of Jesus Christ of a sinner once lost but saved! He never forgot who he was and the love to share!

  • he loved june!
