Strange that every German knows this as it is a New Year ritual on TV in Germany every New Year, but it utterly unknown in England. I thought I would see what it's all about after reading that in the German parliament, when an awkward question is being discussed, it is customary for a member to stand up and defuse the situation by quoting from this show: "I'll do my best." This has quite a stunning effect: all the other members fall about laughing - yes, even Germans.
i used to luv freddie frinton a great comic actor of his time doing slapstic comedy - as someone comics these days should see freddie at his best and lean without much talking but still funny and NO SWEARING a joy to watch and they say germans dont understand english comedy - well done to all germans and other countries for watching good old fashioned comedy at its best - two good actors -- where have they all gone ?
Haven't seen this since i was a kid.
Thanks for sharing.
