I'll never forget the look on my mom's face when I first saw this ad and asked her what Orville meant by there not being any "old maids" in his popped corn. My dad just kind of snickered. I noticed in later years that they re-edited this commercial and removed the phrase completely. This ad was recorded in April of 1978.

  • I don't get it, so what's with the old maids line?

  • @Karimnchok Since I can't paste a link in my reply, check Wikipedia, but it also implies an older woman who has also never had sex, hence the "popped" implication
