  • how many times can you use a clay bar

  • @carwash1009

It depends on how contaminated the car is, but if average a small bar (100g) might be good enough for 1-3 cars while a large bar (200g) can be split and used on 2-8 cars

  • will claydough work as good?

  • No claydough will not work

  • In the beginning you say that the paint surface should be dry, why does that matter? Wouldn't a little water left over from washing help with lubrication?

  • a little water is ok, but not too much as it will dilute the lube too much and I wouldn't use a spray wax or detailer just a good clay lube like Born Slippy for example

  • Anyone use clay on their plastic trim? I used it on my trim & windows. Worked great. Just wondering if that was a bad idea... lol. On the box it says painted surfaces, metal, & glass only. lol. W\e. Really dominated that plastic trim & my plastic mirrors. :-P

  • @SammerJammer No you want to use the spray detailer (spray wax) as your lube, not water.

  • @Ripzta13B Yes you can use smaller pieces. It depends on how much contamination is on the paint as to the size of area you can clay. If the car is pretty good and you are not getting much dirt/grime on the clay I would clay a med/large bonnet in 4 sections, if it is pretty bad and your clay is turning very brown & dirty then I would divide the bonnet into smaller areas maybe 8 sections and turn the clay much more frequently
