If You Go Away - Eartha Kitt we miss you
A tribute to our Eartha. It has been almost a year since she passed away, and we still miss her every day.
Eartha's incredible live version of "Ne Me Quitte Pas" by Jacques Brel is the most heartbreaking, and moving of all English versions. It's the ONLY rendition that can stand up to the original (Marlene Dietrich and Nina Simone a close tie for second).
Eartha has claimed her place among the Goddesses and Gods, but we mere mortals miss her presence!! Eartha thank you!
Talent, émotion, authenticité. So sophisticated and authentic at the same time. A woman of convictions. An unwanted child that made her dream come true... Proof that with love and passion anything is possible.
Eartha vous étiez une grande Dame.

The best performers are unpredictable, dangerously so. They take risks. She did.
A small, tight, sparrow of a woman, with a husky voice curling around the syllables like Edith Piaf, and the heart of a lion. Eartha Kitt was born of rape, black, unwanted, female, in the South. Rose to international stardom, sang in 7 languages, and did not hesitate to tell the First Lady Bird her views on Vietnam. She supported LBGT too, when it took real courage. I admire you Eartha Kitt, more than any other!!

Very Many Thanks, a truly amazing and unique woman, who lived life and her character to the full and until the end.

Thank you so much for posting. I missed her in 1997 in Zürich and will never forgive myself for that...

What a nice tribute!!! There is another live version of this song on the compilation CD "The nearness of you". Do you know if there is a studio version as well?
