Tear gas and a few little tries with other chemicals, but nothing like the use at Ypres (or in Russia about 4 months earlier), but technically, you are right. there were attempts previously.

Good song. If that isn't a wake up call, when in the midst of war the two opposing sides fighting against each other come over to each other and chat , laugh, and enjoy each other's company.
