In this clip, I'm chasing Dale Billingsley in his '02 electron blue C5 Z06 Vette. My fastest (recorded) lap of the day was during this session... a 2:11.302, from start/finish line to start/finish line. With a passenger!
This video was shot through the windshield of my '93 Civic (B18C1 swap, N/A) with an HTC Sensation during an early afternoon session of the 2011 Customer Appreciation lapping day at High Plains Raceway, CO on Dec. 28 2011. Watch it at 480p for the best picture.
I'm on REALLY old/hard 225/45-15 Hoosier R6s. My suspension is very basic: Koni Sport dampers front (race-valved) and rear (off-the-shelf valving), 850# F, 550# rear. OEM Integra GSR front swaybar, no rear bar; lots of negative camber front and rear. This is the first time I've driven the track since the repaving/repairs in corners 5, 6, 8, and 13.
The track conditions during this session were as good as they were all day... the ice/snow on the inside of T2 and T11 was almost completely gone, and temps were still in the high 40s.
At 2:24 and 4:36, my passenger feels compelled to express his joy at carving through the three-corner sequence of T13, T14, and T15 efficiently. It DOES feel pretty good when you connect those corners well.
Not sure why, but at 5:46, Dale waves me by after T6 (and backs off the throttle so I can get by easily, very thoughtful). Interestingly (but predictably), my lap times slow slightly after the carrot of the blue Corvette in front of me is gone.
