The song is about my first broken heart. It was created after our cat "Billy" had been taken by a python. He was a cool cat that was very close to our daughter.
As the song states, I was asked a "half" question by my daughter, and within a "Blink of an eye" a strong memory of a past life came back to me. It included sounds, sights, smells, sensations and sun.
Thanks to the McMullen Clan, Franklin, Tasmania.
***Listen carefully to the background noises of a footy match, dog panting (Muffy?), fly screen door banging, a car driving past, garden noises and family chatter!***
Intro: Our cat just died, and my daughter asked, "Have you ever had a broken heart?" In the blink of an eye, when the lids had closed I look down, I'm wearing younger mans clothes.
Verse: I'm patting the dog at the Fly Screen Door And I step onto the kitchen floor The distant sound of local footy And the laughter from my new family
Chorus: Saturday afternoon, Everything seems new. In the Blink of an Eye In the Blink of an Eye
Verse: The hairdryer is purring at the end of the hall And her parents are standing strong and tall As they struggle to make me feel comfortably I can smell the fresh perfume Paris
Chorus:
Exit: Our cat just died, and my daughter asked, "Have you ever had a broken heart?" In the blink of an eye, the lids had closed "....when one of your cats had died"
