Showing the adaptation of the Tenniel drawing "Alice Upsets the Jury Box" to the contemporary tile piece "Alice Becoming a Woman". Note how the detailed lines and facial expression in the drawing, which express the pain of "growing up", are replaced by the posture, the bosom, and the rigid form, outdoors, under the moon, in the tile piece.
The drawing has also been called "World-weary Alice", and the tile piece strives to capture that feeling, of the difficult transition from "Girl" to "Woman".
